Celebrating Egyptian Dads - Images Competition

The Swedish Embassy in Cairo and the Swedish Institute Alexandria are celebrating Egyptian #FathersDay on June 21st with a social media competition. As part of Sweden’s efforts to promote gender equality, the Dads Images Competitions calls for participates to share photos, short videos or graphic designs depicting fathers actively engaging with their children and family. The aim of the competition is to highlight the positive role dads play in Egyptian societies.

How to participate:

  • Take a good quality photo OR record a short video (30 seconds to 1 minute maximum) depicting an Egyptian father engaging positively with his child/children OR create a graphic design representing the role of dads.
  • Receive consent from those in the photo/video to publish on your social media accounts as well as to give the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo and the Swedish Institute Alexandria the rights to use the photo/video/graphic design.
  • Write something about the photo or what fatherhood means to you. The caption should not exceed 240-characters.  
  • Share the photo/video/graphic design along with the written description on your account on Facebook or Twitter using the hashtags #FathersDay and  #عيد_الأب . Tag the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo  and the Swedish Institute Alexandria in the photo and make sure it is public

The Embassy and Swedish Institute Alexandria will choose the best photos/videos/design and the participants will be invited to a reception celebrating fatherhood with images of both Egyptian and #SwedishDads. The selected participants will be recognized by the Ambassador of Sweden in Cairo and receive a certificate from the Embassy.  The contest begins today June 21 and will end August 21.

Good quality photos/designs/videos may also be shared by the Embassy and SwedAlex on our social media accounts, crediting the creator.
