When applying for a passport at the embassy of Sweden in Pretoria
- You must prove your identity and your Swedish citizenship
- You must apply in person at the embassy in Pretoria
- The application is made by appointment only
- The fee for the passport is paid by bank card (Visa or Mastercard) at the time of application at the embassy
- The passport document is usually ready for collection in about 2-4 weeks
- Collection by appointment only
- The passport can, for an additional fee, be collected in person at the Swedish consulates in Cape Town, Gaborone or Windhoek

Valid Identity
- Valid Swedish passport
- If the passport is stolen/lost, it must be reported to the police and the police report must be presented to the embassy.
- If you cannot show a valid Swedish passport, you must present a South African valid photo ID with a clear signature to prove your identity.
- If you do not have another valid photo ID, you can fill out a declaration of identity at the embassy and bring a person who can verify who you are. Approved certifiers must be able to present a valid photo ID with signature. Please bring a recent passport photo for the declaration. Approved certifiers are The Police Agency (polisen.se)

- Relevant permit (entry permit/residence permit) in South Africa
- South African ID for permanent residence
- Proof of acquisition of Swedish citizenship from the Swedish Migration Agency
- Proof of retention of Swedish citizenship after age 22 from the Swedish Migration Agency
- Before 1 July 2001 citizenship declaration from Home Affairs on automatic acquisition of South African citizenship
- After 1 July 2001 proof of acquisition of South African citizenship
- Birth certificate with details of parents
- Parents' marriage certificate
