Apply for a Schengen visa for Sweden in New Zealand

If you are a visa-required non-EU citizen who intends to visit the Schengen Area for a total period of up to 90 days, and you intend to visit more than one Schengen State (Schengen country), your application for a Schengen visa should be submitted via the Schengen State where the longest period of time will be spent.

Generally, a short-stay visa (“visitor’s visa”) issued by one of the Schengen States entitles its holder to travel throughout the Schengen States for up to 90 days in any 180-day period.

Within the framework of the Schengen cooperation regarding visas, Sweden is represented by other Schengen States in a number of places. In New Zealand, Sweden is represented by the Netherlands.

If you are a visa-required non-EU resident of New Zealand who wants to visit Sweden for up to 90 days, your application for a Schengen visa should be submitted via the Netherlands’ external service provider VFS Global. After submission to VFS Global, applications for Schengen visas for Sweden, in New Zealand, are processed by the Netherlands Embassy in Wellington on behalf of Sweden.

Please note that Sweden’s Honorary Consulates do not handle any enquiries relating to Schengen visas for Sweden. It is not possible to apply for a Schengen visa for Sweden, at any of Sweden's Honorary Consulates in New Zealand.
