Fees

You pay a fee for your visa application. The money is not refunded if your application is rejected.

Fee for visa application

C-visa: 8900 roubles (EUR 90)

C-visa (from 6 to 12 y.o. children): 4500 roubles (EUR 45)

The following countries are included in the EU Visa Facilitation Agreement, and their citizens pay a lower fee, when applying for a visa:

  • Albania
  • Armenia
  • Azerbaijan
  • Belarus
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Cape Verde
  • Georgia
  • North Macedonia
  • Moldova
  • Montenegro
  • Serbia
  • Ukraine

C-visa: 3500 rubles (EUR 35)

The application fee is tied to the euro and is revised in the event of any major shift in the exchange rate.

VFS Global

VFS Global charges a service fee per application, in addition to the above fee for the visa. Please visit the VFS Global website for more information about their current service fee.

Exemptions from visa fee

  • Children under the age of six
  • Pupils, students, post-graduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake trips for the purpose of study or educational training
  • Close relatives (husband, wife, registered partner, dependent child under the age of 21) of citizens of an EU member state, Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Switzerland, if they travel together with them or will meet them in connection with the trip (Swedish nationals are not included in the group "EU citizens" in this context)
  • Students who have received scholarships for studies in Sweden from Sida or other Swedish or international organizations.
  • Researchers from third countries travelling with the purpose of conducting scientific research
  • Holders of diplomatic and service passports (exceptions may apply)
  • Representatives of nonprofit organizations, under 26 years of age
  • Bona Fide applicants (for example applicants invited by the Embassy of Sweden)

Visits longer than 90 days

D-visa: 6100 roubles (EUR 60)

Visitors permit 

Adults: 10800 roubles (SEK 1500)

Children under 18: 5400 roubles (SEK 750)

Excep­tions from fees for visi­tor's permits

Not everyone who applies has to pay a fee. The exceptions are:

  • family members of EU/EEA citizens. Swedish nationals are not included in the group "EU citizens" in this context
  • EU/EEA citizens applying for residence permits
  • Swiss citizens and their family members
  • Japanese citizens
  • visitors in Sweden who are unable to travel home because of an extraordinary event. This applies to persons who apply for a visitor’s permit, specify an extraordinary event as the only ground for their application and state that they intend to travel home as soon as possible. An extraordinary event can, for example, be an ash cloud or a pandemic that means that it is temporarily not possible to travel.
