Online Sweden - Thailand Sustainable Development Forum 2022

Background
In 2021, the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm hosted the first online "Thailand - Sweden Sustainable Development Forum 2021" with the participation of many Thai and Swedish organizations as partners. The objective of this Forum is to be a platform for knowledge and best practices sharing and to provide opportunities for state agencies, civil society organizations, academic institutions, and private sectors to mutually consider the possibility to concretize cooperation on the subjects related to sustainable development, which in turn, would contribute to achieving the SDGs through joint efforts among Swedish and Thai organizations.

Events details
The Embassy of Sweden together with Business Sweden and Thai–Swedish Chamber of Commerce will organize the online “Sweden – Thailand Sustainable Development Forum 2022” on 8 June 2022 at 09.00 - 12.30 Swedish local time and 14.00–17.30 Thai local time with the Royal Thai Embassy, Stockholm as a co-host. 

All sessions will be conducted in English. We will provide interpretation into Thai language during the opening and closing session and for the break-out session “Decent Work is Good for Business”.

The Forum will be recorded and posted on Youtube and can be watched afterwards if you are interested in more than one theme.

Themes & Partners
The Forum will discuss three major themes in relation to the sustainable development as follows:

  • Sustainable Smart Cities
    Discuss ongoing projects and schemes as well as explore the opportunities for cooperation between Thailand and Sweden in smart cities. 
    Partners: Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) and Smart City Sweden.
  • Decent Work is Good for Business
    Exchange on parental benefits and gender equality at work to highlight the importance of decent working conditions in the promotion of the sustained, inclusive, and sustainable development of the country.   
    Partners: Thailand’s Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Social Development and Human Security and Thai and Swedish companies.
  • Higher Education: Green Solutions and Innovation
    Explore how higher educational institutions and companies from Sweden and Thailand could cooperate on green solutions and innovation with the emphasis on the cooperation between the universities.
    Partners: Thailand’s Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, Thai and Swedish Universities, Thai and Swedish Companies.

-Opening remarks by H.E. Ms. Ann Linde, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden and high-level representative from Government of 
Thailand.

-Welcoming remarks by H.E. Mr. Jon Åström Gröndahl, Ambassador of Sweden to Thailand.

-Introduction of the three Moderators for the break-out sessions.

-Presentation of the virtual tour of the photo exhibition "Parenting - an equal opportunity".

  • Virtual Agreement Signing Ceremony between Chulalongkorn University and KTH Royal Institute of Technology and  (10 mins)

-Closing remarks by H.E. Mrs. Kanchana Patarachoke, Ambassador of Thailand to Sweden.
