Holocaust Remembrance Day

The Swedish Embassy attended the commemoration of the Holocaust Rememberance Day.

The Holocaust Remembrance Day is a day to look back and reflect on this dark period of human history to ensure that such atrocities never happen again. It is also a day to remember those who performed courageous deeds to save and protect members of the Jewish community and other groups. One example is the many Albanian citizens that showed hospitality and courage in providing shelter to Jews during the Second World War. From Sweden, the diplomat Raoul Wallenberg has distinguished himself due to his bravery in saving tens of thousands of Jews from the Holocaust.

“The achievements of Wallenberg and other brave individuals remind us of the responsibility we all have in fighting intolerance and discrimination”, Ambassador Johan Ndisi said during today’s commemoration of the Holocaust Rememberance Day organised by Albanian Ministria për Evropën dhe Punët e Jashtme.
