The Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ann Linde, and the Minister for Home Affairs, Mikael Damberg, will visit Albania the 7th of October 2020. The newly appointed Ambassador against organized crime, Håkan Jevrell, will also take part in the visit. During the visit, the Swedish Delegation will meet with the Albanian Government, civil society and officials working on justice reform in Albania.

Minister Linde will firstly meet with Prime Minister Edi Rama and Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj. During their talks, they will primarily discuss the OSCE cooperation, bilateral relations and Swedish support to Albania’s EU integration.

Foreign Minister Linde and Home Affairs Minister Damberg will also meet with the Minister of Interior, Sander Lleshaj, to discuss ongoing police cooperation and the joint fight against organized crime in Europe. Damberg and Jevrell will have technical meetings with the Head of State Police, Ardi Veliu, as well as European Police Liaisons Officers to Albania.

Sweden and Albania enjoy excellent bilateral relations, a relationship that has grown even closer through the cooperation in the OSCE. Sweden is a firm supporter of Albania’s EU accession and has extensive development cooperation supporting Albania’s path towards the EU. Sweden wants to see continued EU-engagement, and deep cooperation between the EU and the region.
