Sweden joined Europe Week in Albania

The Embassy of Sweden in Tirana participated in Europe Weeks in Shkoder, Vlora, and Tirana together with the EU delegation and EU member states. The embassy and Swedish development cooperation partners participated in fairs and different activities to highlight our common European values, which was the focus of the week. Together with EU-delegation, EU member states, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Olta Xhacka, the ambassador from Ukraine to Albania we participated in a discussion on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

During Europe Weeks the embassy participated together with Swedish development cooperation partners to talk about what Sweden and EU does in Albania. The theme was our common European values which highlighted democracy, human rights, environment, women empowerment, and economic development. We also took part in a discussion about how to prevent bullying, showed the Swedish movie Martha & Niki, and took part of artistic performances and a fashion show with focus on equality and accepting each other’s differences.

On Europe Day, 9 May, a fair was arranged in Tirana where people could stop at the embassy tent and enjoy cinnamon buns and apple juice. It was a possibility to ask questions about Sweden and how to live, work, and study there. Together with EU-delegation, EU member states, Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Olta Xhacka, the ambassador from Ukraine to Albania we participated in a discussion on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.On the last day colleagues in the embassy participated in a friendly football match between EU member states and the municipality of Tirana, with very engaged fans in the audience!

All days had many curious visitors!
