About us

Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Yerevan, Armenia, which opened in March 2014. The Ambassador of Sweden to Armenia is H.E. Mr. Patrik Svensson.

In 2013, the Swedish Government decided to upgrade the Swedish presence in Armenia by opening an Embassy in Yerevan.

A permanent Swedish presence in Armenia represented by an Embassy makes it easier for Swedish authorities to follow the political and economic developments in the country and to strengthen the overall bilateral relations between Armenia and Sweden, also related to trade and investments.

In 2019, Sweden decided to re-establish a window for bilateral development cooperation with Armenia. There are four main areas of cooperation:

  1. Human rights, democracy, the rule of law and gender equality
  2. Peaceful and inclusive societies
  3. Environmentally and climate-resilient sustainable development and sustainable use of natural resources
  4. Inclusive economic development

Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission is contracted for development cooperation related operations.

The Embassy does not issue visas or process any applications for residence or work permits. Residents of Armenia can apply for a visa to Sweden through the Embassy of Germany in Yerevan.

Applications for residence or work permits are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Moscow.
