In January 2022 Swedish passports and national ID-cards will recieve new security features and a new design. The application fee remains unchanged and if your ID document is valid you do not have to apply for a new one.
If you need a new passport or a new ID-card before the new year, it is extra important that you bring all necessary documents so that your application can be approved and your ID document issued. Information about valid ID documents (in Swedish).
If you do not hold a valid Swedish ID document, you must bring someone with you who can attest to your identity. Information about approved attestants (in Swedish).
