As part of an effort to reach out to a wider Chinese audience to promote Swedish health care and life sciences the Embassy in Beijing has launched a Sina Weibo account that exclusively focuses on these areas.
The account targets people with a special interest in health, as well as students and professionals within health care and life sciences. The aim is to promote Swedish health related business in China, an important field for Swedish exports to China. Last year it constituted 18 percent of all Swedish exports to China, and its share is growing. Last year exports of medicinal and pharmaceutical products grew by 21 percent and the total worth was more than 12 billion SEK. The account will also be used to spread news of Swedish accomplishments and to discuss interesting topics in order to promote Swedish views.
This is the Embassy’s second Weibo account. The first, a general account, already has more than 90 thousand followers and is steadily growing a larger following.
