The Embassy of Sweden in Beijing is looking for a locally employed staff member to join our Team

The Cultural Attaché at the Embassy is now looking for a colleague to join the Cultural Affairs team at the Embassy.

The Cultural Attaché at the Embassy is now looking for a colleague to join the Cultural Affairs team at the Embassy from 1 September 2019 until 31 March 2020 (with a possibility to extend).
 
Your work place
There is a broad interest and curiosity about Sweden and Swedish Culture in China and China is an important market for the Swedish cultural community. The Embassy works with business promotion and cultural exchange throughout China in close cooperation with Swedish actors and local partners.
 
Main tasks
A successful candidate will be working with the following main tasks;
• Under the guidance of the Cultural Attaché, take part in the planning, implementation and follow up of the different cultural projects
• Assist the Cultural Attaché with various administrative tasks such as contacts with Chinese and Swedish Cultural Organisations, individual partners, assist with travel arrangements and, when needed, help with translation and interpretation.
• Project Manage certain cultural projects in cooperation with the Cultural Attaché,
• Communication and information work in relation to activities / projects
• Assist in the coverage and reporting of cultural related topics and activities related to the Embassy’s work
• 20% of your work will be dedicated to working together with other colleagues in the Embassy who work with Public Diplomacy, Press and Communication. Work tasks includes, amongst other things, contacts with journalists and planning for their travels to Sweden.
 
Professional and personal qualification
A successful candidate will have the following professional and personal qualifications;
• Good knowledge in English and Chinese, both oral and written form. Knowledge in Swedish is considered an asset.
• The confidence and ability to manage big projects and events, to plan and implement seminars and workshops in a public context.
• Knowledge and connection within the Cultural field in China and/or Sweden.
• Knowledge and documented experience of Social Media platforms
• Good social skills as well as flexibility. You need to be comfortable with working independently as well as part of a team.
• Show initiative, good judgement and have sound organisational skills.
 
What we offer
The position is a local, full time employment (39,45 hours per week) with the Embassy. Individual salary applies and the terms and conditions of the employment will be discussed individually with successful candidates.
