Work opportunity: Driver

Your work place

The Embassy’s Administrative- and Consular team is responsible for administration and consular matters including economy, archive, security, property management and operational support. We are now looking for an experienced and flexible driver to join our team. The successful applicant will be responsible for providing professional and secure transportation services for staff and visitors, including VIPs. Starting time is early September 2022.

Main Tasks

  • The position requires professional transportation of Embassy staff members as well as of incoming visitors.
  • Together with the other driver at the Embassy, be responsible for the official Embassy cars – manage all the required supplies for the vehicles as well as car maintenance, cleaning, and regular service (including keeping a detailed logbook of trips and fuel consumption).
  • The position also includes certain duties such as delivery of letters, goods, and invitations, moving of furniture and other equipment, cleaning, shovelling snow etc. The work involves both outdoor- and indoor work.
  • The position requires a flexibility to perform ad hoc duties as and when required.

Professional and personal qualifications

  • Extensive experience as a professional driver/chauffeur with a minimum of five years of driving with an impeccable record and a clean license.
  • Willingness to be flexible with hours worked i.e., early starts, late finish when required and to take time off to balance this out when the Embassy’s schedule is less busy.
  • Self-starter and team player.
  • Good customer service and communication skills for dealing with people at all levels.
  • Experience driving diplomatic or senior management staff is an asset.
  • Good command of English, both oral and written will be considered an asset.

What we offer

  • The position is a local, full-time employment (39,45 hours per week) based at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing.
  • 28 days of vacation/year.
  • A six-month probation period will apply.
  • An individual salary will be discussed with successful candidates. There are “terms and conditions of employment” applied for all local staff.
