St Lucia - Christmas concert at Strahov Monastery

The Brno SIST choir has a long tradition of popular Christmas concerts with the St. Lucia procession, just as it is the tradition in Sweden. This year, the St. Lucia procession will also visit Prague!

On Wednesday 13 December, the choir will bring light into the dark days before Christmas to the basilica of Strahov Monastery.

Get ready for the mysterious atmosphere of a long winter's night, enhanced by candlelight and beautiful (maybe not only) Nordic music. The choir will perform songs celebrating St. Lucia, as well as Swedish Christmas songs.
This year, for the first time, you will also be able to enjoy the magical sound of the nyckelharpa, a traditional Swedish musical instrument, played by Šedovous, a guest of the SIST Swedish Choir.

ATTENTION! THE CHURCH'S CAPACITY IS REACHED! Unfortunately, we cannot accept any more registrations.

Swedish choir SIST was founded in the spring of 2009 by the student of music science, Kateřina Rašíková, under the subject "Swedish in songs" at the Faculty of Arts of Masaryk University.

The members are mainly Faculty of Arts' students who have completed at least one semester of Swedish. The choir is occasionally accompanied by keys, flute, violin, clarinet, or other instruments. The choir also repeatedly participated in the IKEA and Avion events, and participated in the traditional celebration of St. Lucia's celebrations organized by the Nordic Society, the chamber choir performed many times at the Swedish Embassy in Prague and the choir also performed at Midsommarfest in Brno.
