“Her Rights: Money, Power, Autonomy” Exhibition at the HKU Main Library (8 March - 2 April 2024)

Exhibition on economic gender equality and Sweden's gender equality journey

If we are to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals, we need to empower women in the economy and close gender gaps. But progress is unacceptably slow. At the current rate, it will take over 100 years to achieve global gender equality, according to World Economic Forum. What could we do better, and are there any successful examples to learn from? Visit the “Her Rights: Money, Power, Autonomy” exhibition between 8 March and 2 April 2024 to be inspired.

Jointly organised by the Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong, HKU Libraries and the HKU Gender Studies programme, the exhibition underlines the need for action in economic gender equality. By raising six interrelated themes, the exhibition discusses challenges and opportunities connected to economic gender equality. With timelines, it also tells the history of Sweden’s gender equality journey through progressive policy and reform, legal efforts and a strong women’s movement.
