Celebrating the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relation between Indonesia and Sweden in 2025, the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta is looking for a special batik design that portrays the connection between Indonesia and Sweden in a creative way.
Why Batik?
Because we love batik and we love wearing it. Batik is an important aspect of Indonesian culture and part of the country's identity.
Partnering with Indonesian Embassy in Stockholm, The Swedish School of Textiles at the University of Borås, and several Swedish companies in Indonesia: H&M, IKEA, Oriflame, and Fjällräven official distributor, PT Outside Grup Indonesia, the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta is organising a Sweden-Indonesia Batik Design Competition.
The registration is open from 9 July until 9 August 2024, and communicated mainly through the embassy instagram page @SwedenJakarta and instagram broadcast channel Inspirasi Desain Batik Swedia-Indonesia
The winner will get the chance to fly to Sweden and attend a workshop program at the University of Borås-Swedish School of Textiles. The prize also includes Jakarta-Stockholm return flight tickets, local accommodation and transportation, and many more.
This competition is only for Indonesian citizen, with minimum age of 18 years old.
