15 Mar 2024, 5.00 PM

Who is Alfred Nobel and what is the Nobel Prize?

Dr. Eva Olsson, a member of the Royal Academy of Sciences, will be visiting Japan from March 6th to 25th to talk about who is Alfred Nobel and what is the Nobel Prize. Every year award winners are expected to come from Japan, and this will be a valuable opportunity to hear directly from the selection committee.

Eva Olsson is a physicist and professor at Chalmers University of Technology. She is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences and a member of the selection committee for the Nobel Prize in Physics. She chaired the selection committee in 2023.

Dr. Olsson has been using electron microscopy to develop new material characterization technologies, and in recent years has researched a range of technologies, including the evaluation of materials for quantum devices and organic thin film photovoltaics, and the evaluation of coatings for controlled release of drugs.

In 2013, she won an award of SEK 33 million from the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and developed a soft microscope with the funds.
