No One Left Behind – Trust and Inclusion in the Digital Age

10 Feb 2022, 5.00 PM

Nordic Talks Japan is a series of four hybrid events to share inspiration on how to take action on sustainability issues in our everyday lives. Discussions will be held between some of the brightest minds from the Nordics and Japan to inspire people to tackle the challenges and act towards a sustainable future.

This third event on February 10th will be on the theme of e government and digitalisation, focusing especially on trust and inclusion, with UNIVERSITY of CREATIVITY as a special partner.

Digitalization is a powerful tool to implement the SDGs and the new Japanese government has put digitisation and e-government front and centre as a key policy ambition. Nevertheless, the fact that Japan scores lowest on digitization among OECD countries has become clear during the current pandemic when e.g. the increased demand for remote working has met many obstacles. Even though the lack of digitalization is a burden to many in their everyday life, the Japanese public carry great concerns about digitalization on issues such as inclusion of the elderly and trust in authorities’ ability to safely handle personal data on its citizens.
At this Nordic Talk, under the title “No one left behind – trust and inclusion in the digital age”, discussions will examine how we can ensure a transparent and accountable digitalization of government where all groups in society are included. Looking at examples from the Nordic countries, from both public and private sectors, the event ambition is to give all participants food for thought on how digitalization can help support social equity, sustainability and ensuring that all people can access quality services.

Please join us on February 10th for an inspiring conversation on the two main topics, 1) how people of all ages and in all parts of society should be able to benefit from digitalization, and 2) how transparency and accountability can be ensured for citizens to feel safe sharing their personal data.

Nordic Talks Japan will be hosted jointly by the Embassy of Denmark in Tokyo, Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo, Embassy of Norway in Tokyo, Embassy of Finland in Tokyo, The Finnish Institute in Japan, and Nordic Innovation House Tokyo. Each event will be held with English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation, recorded, and made publicly available.

Through Nordic Talks Japan, we strive to create a platform for exchange and dialogue to open doors for even closer social and economic relations to work together towards a sustainable future between the Nordic countries and Japan.
