Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, Japan.
07 Apr 2022, 5.00 PM
The Nordic countries consistently ranking at the top of the GenderGap Index is a result of various policies and reconstructions over many years.
April 7th 17:00-19:00 (JST)
Nordic Talks Japan is a series of hybrid events to share inspiration on how to take action on sustainability issues in our everyday lives. Discussions will be held between some of the brightest minds from the Nordics and Japan to inspire people to tackle the challenges and act towards a sustainable future. Our next event on April 7th will be on the theme of gender equality, focusing especially on women’s participation politics, with the UNIVERSITY of CREATIVITY as a special partner.
The Nordic countries have for decades worked together to strengthen the role of women in all areas of society and currently lead multiple global rankings of gender equality. Japan is ranked in 121st place on the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report.
At the same time, gender equality is continuously being discussed and debated in Japan, and there is an appetite for change. In this Nordic Talks Japan event, we will discuss women’s representation and participation in politics and society and how depictions of stereotypes affect perceptions
of leadership and representation in society, as well as policy outcomes. We aim to bring food for thought on how each of us can take action to realize gender equality in political participation.
Nordic Talks Japan will be hosted jointly by the Embassy of Denmark in Tokyo, Embassy of Sweden in Tokyo, Embassy of Iceland in Tokyo, Embassy of Norway in Tokyo, Embassy of Finland in Tokyo, The Finnish Institute in Japan, and Nordic Innovation House Tokyo.
Each event will be held with English-Japanese simultaneous interpretation,
recorded, and made publicly available. Through the dialogue, we strive to create a platform for exchange and dialogue to open doors for even closer social and economic relations to work together towards a sustainable future between the Nordic countries and Japan.
Welcome!
