Like many governments around the world, the Jordanian government has decided on far-reaching measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus. As of today, Tuesday, March 17, the country's borders are closed for entry and exit. Exceptions are made for Jordanian citizens who wish to return home. They are referred to border crossings by road from Iraq, Syria, Saudi Arabia or the West Bank or by sea to Aqaba. Note that these alternatives do not apply to Swedish citizens.

Those who have recently arrived via flights to Jordan have been placed in compulsory quarantine in hotels on the Dead Sea or in Amman. The quarantine is two weeks long.

The government has imposed a number of restrictions on those in the country. Large monuments and tourist destinations are currently closed, as are the country's schools and universities. People are encouraged to work from home to the extent possible.

Restaurants and the cafe are closed and can only deliver food and drink via home delivery or drive-through.

The authorities are urging people not to bunker food as it can then lead to price increases. They believe that the country's food supply is adequate. The government has informed that there are medicines for several months to come but that it is important not to buy more than is needed. For more information about the government's decision, please see the government's own information channels.
