From March 17, all flights in and out of Jordan will be stopped in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 to Jordan.
On Saturday, 14 March 14, Jordan's Prime Minister announced that no one will be allowed to enter or leave Jordan from Tuesday 17 March, 2020. The embassy has no indication today of how long this ban will apply.
Swedes who are in Jordan and who want to go home should look into the possibilities of booking their tickets as soon as possible. The embassy has no way of influencing Jordanian border restrictions or what air routes are available.
As the situation is rapidly changing, we recommend that all Swedish citizens who wish to leave Jordan to contact their respective travel agency or airline themselves and to keep updated with information from the Jordanian authorities and the Embassy's travel advice at swedenabroad.se.
From March 15 onwards, public events in Jordan will cease. Both mosques and churches are kept closed in favor of prayer in the home. Sports and cultural activities are suspended and smoking (including hookahs) is prohibited in restaurants and cafes.
