Temporary position as Communications and Promotion Officer

The Embassy of Sweden in Chisinau is currently seeking to recruit a communications and promotion officer based in Chisinau. The position is full time (100%) and available from 1st of August 2024.

The Embassy has 17 staff members, among them 7 Swedish sent-out staff and 10 Moldovan local employees. The Embassy has three main areas of work: political affairs/communications/promotion, administration, and reform cooperation.

The Embassy represents Sweden and Swedish interests in Moldova through:

  • Promoting political, trade and cultural contacts between Sweden and Moldova
  • Promoting Moldovan European integration
  • Swedish reform cooperation with Moldova
  • Consular service for Swedish citizens

In carrying out the duties, the Communications and Promotion Officer is a member of the mission’s communications team, and shall closely liaise with Administrative Section, as well as with the Reform Cooperation Section.

 Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement promotion events and activities, including related receptions
  • Plan and coordinate communications activities with the mission’s partners
  • Plan, create and update communication on the mission’s social media and Embassy’s Romanian speaking sites
  • Draft and edit material for communication, such as text, images, invitations, press releases, videos, etc.
  • Contribute to the development of the mission’s communication strategy and the planning of internal communication training, as necessary
  • Coordinate the mission’s newsletter on reform cooperation

Qualifications

Education

  • Higher education in journalism, PR, marketing, or related fields

Work Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in similar roles within international organizations, embassies, or non-governmental organizations

Languages

  • Fluent in Romanian, English and Russian
  • Knowledge of Swedish is an added advantage

Skills

We are looking for a candidate with excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently, ensuring each task is completed with careful attention to detail.

Proficiency in both traditional written press production and digital content, along with excellent organizational and time management skills, is required. The Embassy follows Moldovan labour law for our local staff. Salary, terms, and conditions will be in accordance with the Swedish Foreign Service salary system for locally employed staff. The Embassy practices a management culture where trust, transparency, participation, and personal responsibility are key values. Our new colleague is expected to travel frequently on missions within Moldova.

The position is a temporary position. The starting date is August 1st, 2024, but can also subject to the successful candidate’s availability.
