Closure of the embassy in Bamako

If you have previously contacted the embassy in Bamako, you should now turn to the embassies in Rabat and Abuja instead

The Government has decided to close Sweden’s embassy in Bamako. Its decommissioning is expected to be fully completed by the end of 2024. In light of this, the Swedish Migration Agency will also discontinue all migration activities at the embassy.

In addition to citizens of Mali, the catchment area of the embassy in Bamako also includes citizens of Burkina Faso, Gambia, Guinea-Conakry, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania and Niger. When the embassy in Bamako closes, the same migration case-related referrals will apply to all these citizens.

Cases concerning residence and work permits

If you want to apply for a work permit, a residence permit for studies, or a residence permit to live with a family member in Sweden, you can instead turn to the embassies in Rabat, Morocco or Abuja, Nigeria.

Find contact information for Swedish embassies and consulates-general at swedenabroad.se

If you have been in contact with the embassy in Bamako and are waiting for a residence permit card to be able to move to Sweden, you will be contacted to get information about your card.
