Sweden launches a new phase of cooperation with Universidade Eduardo Mondlane

Sweden and UEM have officially launched a new phase of cooperation for the next 5 years. The new phase of cooperation will ensure that, over the next 5 years, 100 PhD students, 233 Masters student and 18 post-docs will be trained within this program.

Sweden and UEM have officially launched a new phase of cooperation for the next 5 years. The new phase of cooperation will ensure that, over the next 5 years, 100 PhD students, 233 Masters student and 18 post-docs will be trained within this program. Sweden will support UEM with  355 Million SEK (approximately 44 million US dollars) during the period of 2017-2021. 16 Swedish and 8 South African Universities are part of the collaboration.

The official launch ceremony took place at the Universidade of Eduardo Mondlane and a reception was held at the Swedish residence with 100 guests attending. The Rector Professor Orlando Quilambo and the Swedish Ambassador Marie Andersson de Frutos held the keynote speeches at the official launch event.

UEM is the oldest institution of higher education in Mozambique and the partnership with Sweden dates back to 1978.
