Event on the occasion of the entering into force of the Rome Statute in 2002
The Rome Statute shapes an architecture in which the ICC plays a complementary role to national criminal jurisdictions. A growing number of states Parties, including Germany and Sweden have set up specialised investigating units to prosecute serious international crimes.
2022 marks the 20th anniversary of the entering into force of the Rome statute. Moving forward - is there scope for closer cooperation in the pursuit of accountability?
During the event, a panel discussion including a Q&A will be held, in which ICC Prosecutor Karim A.A. Khan, Swedish prosecutor Reena Devgun, and German attorney Natalie von Wistinghausen will share experiences and explore ways to enhance cooperation and strengthen complementarity between the Court and the national prosecution offices.
Remarks will be made by the Director-Generals for Legal Affairs from Sweden and Germany, Carl Magnus Nesser and Christophe Eick. Moderator for the event is Lorraine Smith van Lin.
You do not have to register for the webinar.
