Work-Life Balance Leadership Seminar

Hanze University Groningen's Institute of Business Administration, has an annual leadership seminar. This year's theme was Lagom, the work-life balance. In a Q&A with our two consuls Heleen van Balen and Nils Dijkman, the audience learned how to be more efficient through a Swedish ancient model: "Lagom".

"Not too much, not too little, but just enough". This is what the word literally means. Translated into the business life, it can teach you to work more efficiently.

Based on the Swedish book "Lagom: The Swedish Art of Balanced Living" by Linnea Dunne, Honorary Consul Heleen van Balen (Groningen) and Honorary General Consul Nils van Dijkman (Amsterdam) discussed how lagom can give you a happier and a better work-life balance. They talked about the the factors of happiness and what the differences are in this between the Netherlands and Sweden.

Guy van Liemt RM then further explored happiness at work on an organisational level. Dr Klaske Veth concluded the seminar with a presentation on happiness at the individual level.

Topped off with Swedish delicacies, it was an inspiring Swedish tinted afternoon in Groningen.
