The delegation's mission is to represent Sweden in the OECD and its sister organizations IEA (International Energy Agency), NEA (Nuclear Energy Agency) and ITF (International Transport Forum).
The delegation works to promote Swedish positions, and reports on the organization's activities in matters of interest to Sweden. Priority areas are, for example, economic monitoring, trade, energy, development issues and gender equality.
The daily work largely consists of following meetings within the organization's committees and working groups.
The delegation consists of diplomats and locally employed staff who work closely with the Government Offices, other Swedish foreign missions and public authorities in Sweden. Sweden's ambassador to the OECD and Unesco represents Sweden in the OECD's Council. The Council is the OECD's highest decision-making body.
A large number of delegates from the Government Offices and other public authorities in Sweden participate every year in meetings with the OECD’s more than 300 committees and working groups.
