During the last three years, Sweden has supported the project of poverty reduction in Serbia. In cooperation with Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe (Help), Sweden has contributed to the reduction of poverty, through the socio-economic support, in order to protect the vulnerable groups in the society by mostly focusing on youth, women and informal waste collectors.

Implementation of the project is conducted through the work with the implementation of Local Action Plans, provision of in-kind grants and through giving a chance to the youth in 20 different cities and municipalities. Since the beginning of the program, 786 beneficiaries have been supported with in-kind grants, 121 young people attended on-the-job-training and 691 beneficiaries attended business and tailor-made professional training sessions. Thanks to this project, Sweden continues the long-term support to Serbia with its EU accession process and supports UN’s sustainable development goals.
