Welcome to the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the Council of Europe

The Council of Europe is an intergovernmental European cooperation organization with 46 member states and more than 700 million citizens. The Swedish representation is the main link between Swedish authorities and the Council of Europe.
The representation's activities focus on driving Swedish politics and representing Sweden's interests in the Councils of Europe's main areas: European cooperation on democracy, promoting respect for human rights and rule of law.
The Ambassador is Sweden's Permanent Representative at the Committee of Ministers, the Council of Europe's highest decision-making body.
The Swedish representation is located near the main building of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights.

Six people work at The Permanent representation of Sweden to the Council of Europe, three sent by the Foreign Ministry and three local employees. Ambassador Therese Hydén, Chargé d'affaires ai.i, is head of the representation.
