Warning: Misleading adverts about work in Sweden

It has come to the Embassy’s attention that adverts have been posted on social media soliciting for people who would like to acquire jobs and work in Sweden. Some of the posts have included images of the Swedish Ambassador, Per Lindgärde, insinuating the embassy is aware and a part of this. This is not the case.

It has also been brought to our attention that an advert was published in the New Vision on Monday 14 January 2019, calling for people interested in job opportunities in Europe and promising free air tickets and visas to applicants. The people behind the advert then provide a link to a website calling for people who are interested in working in Sweden to pay a fee of Ushs 105 000 to register.

We would like to categorically state that the Embassy of Sweden is unaware of the origins of these posts and is not involved in this in any way. We would like to call for caution from the public as similar offers have previously been used to defraud the unsuspecting public. You are therefore advised to remain vigilant of fraud and scams purporting to provide opportunities to work in Sweden.
