About the Consulate General

The Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco represents Sweden in California and Hawaii. Its mission is to provide assistance to Swedes and to promote Swedish interests.

Section for Consular Affairs

The section for consular affairs handles consular matters such as passports, citizenship questions, name registrations, certifications of documents etc. 

Schengen visa applications for residents of California are handled by the VFS Global office in San Francisco (sweden.usa@vfsglobal.com or 347-329-2738). 

Residence permit applications are handled by the Embassy of Sweden in Washington DC (ambassaden.washington-visum@gov.se or 202-467-2600)

Section for Trade and Export Promotion

The section for Trade and Export promotion works with trade, export- and business related activities with the purpose of promoting the exchange between Sweden, California, and Hawaii. 

Location and hours

The Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco is located on 595 Market Street. You can easily reach the Consulate with public transportation. Closest BART and MUNI station is Montgomery Street Station or Embarcadero Station.
