The High Council for Gender Equality is organizing this conference in collaboration with French and European associations, and with the support of the Ministry for Gender Equality and the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs

Speakers: European associations / activists and European institutions. French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs (to be confirmed). French Minister for Gender Equality, Diversity and Equal Opportunities (confirmed).

Participants: Representatives of French and European institutions and associations.

Context and objectives of the conference:

This conference is presented by the High Council for Gender Equality in continuity with its work on Feminist Diplomacy  (October 2020) and following its recommendations for the French presidency of the EU  (June 2021). The expectations that France leads a strong presidency oriented towards promoting women’s rights and gender equality, and in support of feminist mobilizations in a difficult context (COVID-19 pandemic, ecological crisis, conservative pushes) emerged from the interviews carried out during this work.

The proposed conference will take place almost a year after the Generation Equality Forum, co-organized by France in July 2021, and during which the European Union and the Member States took commitments. It will also occur in the context of reflection on the strengthening of Europe, initiated by the Conference on the Future of Europe, whose process will end during the French presidency. The conference thus intends to make the voice of feminist organizations heard, alongside representatives of European institutions, and to sketch outlines for a resolutely feminist Europe
